The walk up Scafell Pike via Mickledore is an alternative route up Scafell Pike from Wasdale, sharing the initial climb with the more popular Wasdale Path up Brown Tongue. At Hollow Stones, the path (one of many) heads on directly to the obvious col at Mickledore rather than heading off left.
Once at Mickledore, where you have Broad Stand to your right – an absolute barrier to the walker who wants to climb Scafell directly and strictly off-limits to non-climbers. The final ascent up Scafell Pike from Mickledore can be found by following a path to the left as you arrive at Mickledore.
The ascent of Scafell Pike via Mickledore is ideally combined with the easier Wasdale Route for a straightforward outing.
